The politician presented two arguments for the necessity to get to Kiev, saying that, first, this is a Russian city and, second, the international threat to Russia’s existence comes from there

Edit - I see what you mean, now that I clicked the link. Putin is signaling (it appears) that taking the city is on his agenda.
That does not shock me. They can set up a new capitol somewhere between Kiev and Poland - as Putin permits.
