Matt Gaetz is well known as the most hated man in Congress. Among his shanagens of bringing the House speakership into chaos over a period of months he has other unenduring qualities. Like sex parties involving drugs with his billionaire friends. He's actually under ethics investigations for that currently.
Recently, Gaetz was greeted by a large round of applause for the statement of wanting to end funding for the United Nations at CPAC. The organization is responsible for humanitarian work globally and the end of funding would be a serious own goal on behalf of the United States. Americans also overwhelmingly support its work. Is there something I'm missing here? Is the United Nations a determent to the United States? Especially in light of the lessons of World War II when 60 million people died?

I don't have hard evidence about something that is a matter of opinion. I've read it somewhere but I'm not going tom look at everything I've read over the past week.

sure America finances UN but doesn't say where the money goes after they get it. Sound familiar? Use other people's money. That isn't political, that is academia training brains to believe life isn't self evident last 7,000 years.

It has always looked to me that their main mission is to watch warring factions kill each other around the world, and maybe hand out a little food and water to the survivors on the sidelines.

I mean other than that, what purpose do they really serve?

It negates personally self evidently adapting as ancestrally present when reproductively added to an ever changing population. Imagine educated every ancestor to loath evolving while adapting as displaced then blaming them for fearing constant changes while obeying rule of law defying life in plain sight 24/7.
