if you are 36 you will live to be 136 or more. in the future food and utilities will be
rationed to control inflation. you will have a annual tax on your accumulated wealth.  start your planning.

Do you ever try to live navigating limited to adapting as displaced for the time one has being eternally separated now equally inhabiting the moment here as geographically positioned in plain sight.

Cannot enjoy living if your instincts aren't in sync with your intellectual choices currently navigating the ever changing situation life never duplicates the past again, next blink of an eye, beat of the heart, breath, step, rotation of the planet.

Relive the past and you will never accept the future only adapting as displaced here now.

Eternal hell does exist in plain sight. Intellectual social utopia is never heaven on earth living in a shining city on the hill flushing your toilets on the masses living below.

**** like water seeks its own level between gaseous and mineral locations. liquids and life evolve between.

you ask a question. and answer the question. i observe. when a tree falls in a forest, and no one is there to listen, was there a sound? where are the trees? best to plant trees, before asking questions.

Philosophy vs genetic timing at each reproduction is living timed apart as ancestrally displaced geographically here. What are you a prophet of mind over matter semantics?

another Dalai Lama wannabe.

hey life lesson number 73, Death is retirement from adapting to the moment since conceived lived eternally separated so far.

Sound ridiculous?  It's not.  Walkingstick actually makes a valid point here.  So, how would you plan for this if you are 36?  I'll tell you what I'd do:
  • First, you have to become moderately wealthy.  However you get there, you will need to get there.  Otherwise, you are screwed.
  • Then, you have to put your money to work for you in investments that make it difficult for the government to screw with. While brokerage accounts will make you more money over time, the government can certainly get their hooks into them.  Alternative investments - -
    • Real Estate - downside is state and local taxes, and insurance - they can tax and code-enforce you out of existence.
    • Agricultural land - if you can efficiently work (and defend) that land, this might be a good bet.
    • Gold/Silver stacking - all I have to say about that is:Executive Order 6102
    • St Kitts and Nevis  - great offshore banking system, if its not underwater in the future.  You still have to pay taxes on it, however.
    • Guns and ammo - That's all well and good for preserving up to about $50,000 of wealth - then what?
    • Art, Antiques and other valuables - Nobody wants that stuff anymore.
    • Diamonds - - proliferation of lab grown diamonds has kept prices of natural diamonds from escalating.
    • Skill Set - If you have a valuable skill set, you will always have a way to make a decent living: Master Mechanic, welder, machinist, etc.  Manager - no.  Medical Doctor/Nurse - yes.  Lawyer - no.  CEO - no.  Banker - maybe...probably.  Accountant - yes/maybe
Essentially, if you can sustain at least yourself on arable land that you own, and control, have a valuable skill set, and have a secondary and even perhaps a tertiary source of income, you will be riding high on the hog.

well said. own land and be a jack of all trades. then work is play. (farm land has low property taxes. river or stream a plus. push comes to shove. cut off all paid utilities. and enjoy wood stoves. )

happiest time of my life was when i was young. lived in a dugout cave. eat dear. farmers let me glean their fields and orchards. no worries. loved my wood stove. and chicken feather blankets.

Like all intellectual minds following flowchart relative time table logistics, you never comprehend the simultaneously existing part of adapting in space here now individually just another 31st arrival of your previous 4 generation gaps paved your way to believing now isn't eternity.

There is no retirement for most people.
They stop working in all senses of the word.
Try finding someone who has a good feeling about the next 20 years.
There will be 10 that do not.
Please seat yourself.

Fix the flaws today. life doesn't exceed the moment here.

the flaws are people believe life exceeds perpetually balancing to adapting as displaced. Never has and the 1% banked on nobody finding out.
