He had invested a great deal of energy in pre-preening about the sure-thing decision he expected.
His post-decision preening plans have been put on hold.
He will be frenching his boyfriend vigorously tonight, looking for a hard consolation buggering.
What can I tell ya - he's a man's man.
And not to step over this, Maine is one of those states. It is also one of two states that allow split electors. Trump TOOK the red elector in 2016 AND in 2020. So if Maine had succeeded, that is ONE elector right there. Then there is the possibility of left wing groups getting Trump off the ballot in right wing states.Skans » 04 Mar 2024, 2:54 pm » wrote: ↑ Every two-bit state was already following Colorado's example to keep Trump off the Ballot. I was very surprised at the 9-0 decision. I can't even imagine how that came about.Cannonpointer » 04 Mar 2024, 3:49 pm » wrote: ↑ And not to step over this, Maine is one of those states. So, yeah - it was important. I dismiss it as thayatah because it never had a prayer. But like yourself, I would imagine, I left room for the crooked system to go full Augusto Pinochet.
If Elections were hockey, the Democrats would be benched for the next few election cycles.Kobia2 » 04 Mar 2024, 3:50 pm » wrote: ↑ The same assholes who cry "count every vote" (just Democrat Votes) attempting to disenfranchise Millions of American citizens from Voting,.

I've looked at it out of the side of my eyes, trying to catch in my peripheral what my dead eye cannot perceive.Skans » 04 Mar 2024, 3:55 pm » wrote: ↑ I was very surprised at the 9-0 decision. I can't even imagine how that came about.
Ok, I'm with you through the end of your 2nd paragraph. While these things are not decided in a vacuum, they are decided in the vacuum of the Supreme Court, with all of its justices and staff attorneys working for the justices. I think some of the conservatives, behind the scenes, made convincing arguments to the leftist judges to convince them to jump on board, or be marginalized as irrelevant, political hacks.Cannonpointer » 04 Mar 2024, 4:16 pm » wrote: ↑ I've looked at it out of the side of my eyes, trying to catch in my peripheral what my dead eye cannot perceive.
One theory I am toying with is that this would open the door to republicans removing the diaper baby from the ballot, on the basis of his insurrections on the border, and through fauci, and through weaponizing the DOJ, and through secreting away classified documents that no VP had a right to, and through any of a dozen other things that they could just DECIDE is insurrection and then go judge-shopping.
Then too, it could be there is still JUST enough WASP element left in DC to consider appearances. WASPs are decidedly against being seen on the global stage as the political equivalent of Bolivians.
I am not in any way convinced that the Justices are independent actors. There are voices to which they answer - potentially with their lives and certainly with their fortunes. I believe they turned roe around for reasons other than jurisprudence. It was political - to keep the democrat and republican parties together. The republicans needed a win after that stolen election, or they were going to start something new and vigorous - something not easily headed off in a short window. And if the republicans split, trust and believe the dems would, too. The progressive wing of the dem party is every bit as dissatisfied with their leadership as the conservative wing of the republican party is with theirs. Abortion has been a stalwart issue in keeping all the parties' ducks in a row.
But at the end of the day, I'm bowled over by the unanimity. I'm letting it steep before I can fit it into my Grand Unified Conspiracy Theory - which also involves aliens.
But they didn't side with Trump, they sided against the unprecedented practice Colorado did like you said any candidate for president of the USA. States can do what every they want for instate elections to any level of representatives in that state.Skans » 04 Mar 2024, 11:29 am » wrote: ↑ Huge win for Trump today. The Supreme Court unanimously, not even split on this issue, sides with Trump on Democrats engaging in election interference and trying to remove him from Ballots.
I haven't read the decision yet - - will have to see what they said.
Here's a link to the actual decision. https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/2 ... 9_19m2.pdf

Trump was the object of the case, and to that extent they ruled in Trump's favor. The court accepted Trump's arguments against the illegal action taken by Colorado. I agree with you that the court unanimously sided against the unprecedented practice of Colorado's contorted process for eliminating Trump from its ballot.31stArrival » 04 Mar 2024, 4:30 pm » wrote: ↑ But they didn't side with Trump, they sided against the unprecedented practice Colorado did like you said any candidate for president of the USA. But President is separate issue since it includes all 50 states and territories allowed to vote.
interpretation only. So, when I say the court sided with Trump, what I am actually saying is the court sided with Trump's legal position on the matter. (Also, there may be a bit of sensationalism in my headline.) Your comment is noted and accepted.
