NATO is due to begin a massive military training event next door to Russia on Monday as a response to what some military experts perceive as an intimidation tactic from Russian leader Vladimir Putin.The Russian leader recently claimed that the west would be risking "nuclear war" if they sent troops to Ukraine. Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said NATO could be dragged into a war with Russia if Vladimir Putin's forces are not stopped in Ukraine. Trumpeted as Nordic Response 2024 and spearheaded by Norway, the exercise will see over 20,000 soldiers from 13 different nations gathering for almost two weeks to train in Finland, Norway, and Sweden's northern regions.Over 4,000 Finnish soldiers are expected to join in the largest foreign exercise ever seen by newly-crowned NATO member Finland, their military confirmed. Finland's Defense Forces released a statement regarding the war games: "For the first time, Finland will participate as a NATO member nation in exercising collective defence of the alliance's regions."Sharing a border of 1,340km with Russia, Finland became part of NATO in April of 2023. All fellow NATO members have given their blessing to the Finn's joining, and it looks like neighbouring Sweden will soon be finishing the paperwork needed to become the 32nd member of this prestigious military alliance, likely sometime this March, reports The Daily Star.

The Nordic countries are trying to prove their allegiance to NATO by being stupid as hell. This is the first time Finland has actually participated in a NATO operation. They probably want to prove themselves. What better way to prove your worth than to risk a nuclear war? Once they get wiped out, NATO will probably begin to think hard about what they want to do: Either go all in or stop supporting Ukraine. One or the other.
