As far as monopoly power their grip is even tighter than standard oil. Unfortunately the only candidate talking about it is Kennedy. Shouldn't it be a worry that they even hold a large portion of real estate? I'm not trying to be anti capitalist with this, actually I consider myself pro capitalist. The original ideas of capitalism were espoused by Adam Smith. Still a bedrock of economic theory, he also drove the thought of competition in markets. I could go deeper but tighter ownership is kinda the same thing as Communism except everything is in private hands. Is it time to break up Blackrock?
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.

LOL. BlackRock is untouchable.
Its one of the reasons DC provoked war with Russia.

Capitalism predated smith by centuries. Capitalism and competition are antithetical. Free Enterprise strives to serve markets to dominate the competition. Capitalism strives to CORNER markets to end competition.
Free Enterprise requires no assistance from government. Capitalism requires government licensure and protection from the ground up. From government sponsored trading boards to "business-friendly" coups d'etat to tax codes structured to funnel money into capitalism's trading boards, capitalism cannot exist without government assistance. The minute THAT is withdrawn, capitalism ceases to exist. Free Enterprise, OTOH, will continue even if outlawed, as a "black market." Because Free Enterprise - the natural estate of human kind - requires only one thing to exist: two or more people. If two or more people associate, free enterprise naturally arises.
