Education is my line of work. When I see k-12 say the pledge, I often ask what the point is. They are just memorizing words and then reciting them. I can see in their faces that they have no clue what the hell they are even saying. It's just something they are supposed to do. Likewise, I have known people who wont say it. However, they have no clue as to why they wont. It's just to get attention, to be different. 

As for me, I say it because I still believe there is hope that America can change for the better. We have come a long way since 1776. We are still an infant compared to most of the world. Yet look how far we have come with respect to human rights, technology, medicine, and education. Our evils run deep. Really deep. They still do. However, I still believe that we have the ability to change for the better. America changes rapidly. America is not the same country as it was in 2010, and in 2010 it was not the same in 2000, and in 1990..etc...How many other countries can conform to change that easily? 

So why do you say it or choose not to say it? 
 
 
 

I love this country, so I say it freely. Kids are open slates, they should be taught to love their country at a young age. Get the America hating liberals out of the school system.

I didn't know that. I should research it. Nonetheless, I still think America can change. Some countries are still the same today as they were 2000 years ago, just with running water...that we built for them. We change from decade to decade.

Exactly they need to be taught blind allegiance no matter what. Indoctrination is key.

I say- say it. Does no harm for them. Good training.  It respects the country. instills decency-

That's what pizzes me off over the idiots who take the knee. Hate that. Show  respect for the country- Does no harm. But no. They forget its our country and the sports here- giving them - their spoiled million dollar salaries.

It all has to do with respect. Today most Dem and lib kids are raised with none. It's disgusting. A kid talking back is terrible disrespect.

Anyways back then ya just stood up and looked at the Flag

I say the pledge when appropriate.  From an early age, I was taught the meaning of it, and think about its meaning when I recite it.  I say it because I am an American.  For better or for worse, this is my country and I have none other.

An old lady told me one time. I always listen to the elders- not that I'm young- but these people are fossils. LOL

She said Cyndi- there is no excellence. No one cares about their work- doing things right- The flag anything!

The pledge is a reminder that we have some level of loyalty to our fellow countrymen expected of us.

Honest brain doesn't pick corrupted interpretation of life as a greater good scenario forward from here. Educated minds always take sides seeking better tomorrows than life became today.
