Key inflation gauge hits highest level since September ahead of Fed meeting
By Associated Press
Published March 14, 2024, 1:51 p.m. ET

Wholesale prices in the United States accelerated again in February, the latest sign that inflation pressures in the economy remain elevated and might not cool in the coming months as fast as the Federal Reserve or the Biden administration would like. The Labor Department said Thursday that its producer price index — which tracks inflation before it reaches consumers — rose 0.6% from January to February, up from a 0.3% rise the previous month.

Measured year over year, producer prices rose by 1.6% in February, the most since last September.
The figures could present a challenge for the Fed, which meets next week and is counting on cooling inflation as it considers when to cut its benchmark interest rate, now at a 23-year high.

The Fed raised rates 11 times in 2022 and 2023 to fight high inflation.

Bidenomics! Yeah baby! Dimocrats have some of the most creative methods to twist around numbers that are unfavorable. I don't know how they can look in the eyes of the average American and boldly lie that prices are low. People already know they are or not, they pay it everyday.

A little while ago I curb stomped Veghead on this issue. The idiot cherry picked like he always does. He said that he still pays for , I think he said butter or maybe eggs ( I don't recall exactly), the same as he did a few years ago at his market. Nothing has changed. Idiot. I tried to educate him that you can't take one obscure example and then generalize it to the rest of the economy. God he is dumb. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

For Republicans sake, let's hope that recession happens sooner than later. The cracks in the economy are still there, if we limp along till the beginning of next year, it's going to be really tough to stop and will be hung around Republicans necks if Trump wins.

Just a thought.

Myopic morons like Eggplant simply have no understanding of how a supermarket works.
I'm familiar with how items are priced, having experience working in one as a kid, and maintaining a friendship with the owner to this day.
The largest supermarkets often have many staple items that they actually either lose money on or break even with.  These are loss leaders, and you'll often find them advertised as a marketing ploy to bring customers in.  Common items like produce, eggs, bacon, and butter are known to be purchased by so many consumers, that a sale price on them (or a regular low price) will generate a flow of more customers.

It's very possible that BV got a reduced price of eggs at his store, and the profit loss on such an item is made up elsewhere on other items.
Naturally, he assumes we'll all succumb to his laughably claimed "expertise" on the subject, and it will inevitably show up when he's attempting to tout the "accomplishments" of the corrupt, senile pedophile who has him licking his *** here on a daily basis.

Precisely. Good post. He is as dumb as they come. Don't be surprised if he strikes through all of this, then belts you with questions where the answers are literally in the post that he struck through.

As long as inflation continues to rise while interest rates either rise or stay the same, there's no way that Dems and especially a mumbling, stumbling, Alzheimer patient can possibly spin that into good economic news.

Also, the spring and summer seasons always bring higher gas prices for the nation, and are already beginning to rise significantly. That will be the fuel for higher inflation on food and any of the thousands of products trucked from the west coast.

There is no way to keep the inflation rate from climbing when gas and diesel prices continue to rise each month.
And you can bet the DNC is on the verge of panic as a result.
Why are California gas prices so high?
ABC News by Lauren Walike  3/4/24

Gas prices in CA have gone up since last week by an average of about 20 cents per gallon across the state, according to AAA. In the Sacramento area, drivers can expect to pay about 30 cents more per gallon than last week as of Mon.

“We’re entering Spring Break season, and March and April bring higher gas prices as demand rises,” said Aixa Diaz, AAA spokesperson. “With milder temperatures come more road trips, and this time of year tends to be a precursor to the summer driving season.”California is seeing an average price of $4.83 compared to a week ago when the average was $4.64, according to AAA.

Gas prices are at a 4-month high nationwide with California leading in prices
KSBY News By: Ashley Stevens 3/11/24

As the weather gets warmer the demand for gas increases, and so do prices. Gas prices are at a 4-month high, according to AAA, the national average on Monday is around $3.40 for a gallon of regular gas. California’s average price sits at $4.88 as of Monday. According to AAA, a rise in gas prices around spring time is normal as the weather warms up and demand for gas is higher.

California is one of 10 states to see the largest average price increase, rising 12 cents a gallon since last Thursday. Ohio saw the largest increase, with a rise in 28 cents per gallon.

Gas Prices Are About to Become a Huge Headache for Biden: Experts
Western Journal by Allison Anton

Who would have thought shutting down oil drilling in the US would end up having negative consequences in an election year? It seems that President Biden and his administration failed to consider those consequences, seeing as experts are predicting a surge in gas prices in the coming months. Given that the Nov. elections are perilously important for Biden and his Democratic Party, this news couldn't come at a worse time. Reuters reported Thursday that major refinery outages are mainly to blame for the projected spike in US gas prices -- which already have increased 9 percent since the start of the year (averaging $3.412 on Thursday). It also cited other contributing factors. For one, according to Reuters, our stockpile of gasoline has fallen by 5.7 million barrels. In addition, drone strikes in Russia by Ukrainian forces have further affected our supply. "There is every reason to believe gasoline prices will screech even higher going forward," said Tom Kloza, head of energy analysis at Oil Price Information Service.

Until Biden quits handing out $100 Billion Dollar bills to every Tom, Dick, and Volodymyr ....
inflation will continue to soar as our dollar becomes more and more eroded.
