My understanding is that was cooked up by people opposed to her. I work with a French guy who worked with her staff on special events. He attended meetings with her. The scandal sheets were loaded with that stuff, and her being a man was hardly the worst of the rumour and gossip.

The allegations may be false - but it is erroneous to refer to them as rumors. Rumors are whispered and vague. These are broadcast and quite specific. They say she (he?) is her (his) dead sister - that the brother disappeared right when she appeared, risen like Lazarus.
That isn't a "rumor" at all - it's an accusation.

I do not follow her, because she is on Shapiro's platform, and he is a rabid anti-Semite who advocates the murder of Palestinians. But from what I have seen of her, she is not a bomb thrower.
