skeptical that American workers would be willing to make the same sacrifices as workers in TaiwanIt's not just a disagreement over expertise that poses risks to TSMC's Arizona chip plant. Differences in work culture between the US and Taiwan — where employees say extended shifts and worker obedience are expected — could bring challenges to not only the construction of the factory but also its operations after opening.
In March, Morris Chang, TSMC's founder, spoke at a panel in Taipei about what he considered a significant gap in work cultures.
"If an engineer [in Taiwan] gets a call when he is asleep, he will wake up and start dressing," he said. "His wife will ask: 'What's the matter?' He would say: 'I need to go to the factory.' The wife will go back to sleep without saying another word. This is the work culture."
TSMC employees told The New York Times in February they were skeptical that American workers would be willing to make the same sacrifices as workers in Taiwan and said Taiwanese workers in Arizona would likely be forced to pick up the slack for their American colleagues.

It is odd. As hard as they work, you would think that their products would be impeccable. They aren't. Then again, there is only so much quality 6 yr olds can do during a 15 hour shift with one 30 second bathroom break.

Bob Carver of Carver Stereo [and who originally founded the legendary Phase Linear company] will be the first guy to tell you that the Chinks can mfg components and sub assemblies that match what he was able to produce for just pennies on the dollar.
Bob had a duty to his stock holders to go with what the Chink salesman [who showed up one day at his office unannounced] demonstrated to Mr Carver was the smart way for him to go.
OTOH...there IS an awful lot of totally sub-****-standard Chink **** out there to steer clear of.
Buyer beware.

There's probably not a lot of individuals in Asia that actually believe they are even close to "essential".
Seems like to barely consider yourself necessary at all would be a stretch over there.
Any job you quit, get fired, abandon, seek, enjoy . . .
...there's a line behind you just waiting. Chinese people are not in short supply.
That's not work ethic. That's the culture in which they live.

This phrase is code for seeking a client business that can make a current product cheaper.
Not better or worse. Just cheaper.
It's basically is a back-stabbing maneuver to a current production arrangement.
Not to single out Chinese (they just happen to be a front-runner in a lot of these) but it's all about how the contracts are set up. The Chinese are fully capable of producing high quality product. If, however, you are choosing a manufacturer simply on cost as the most important aspect: You get what you pay for.
They can out-cheapen just about anybody. Because that's what they were asked to do basically.

Americans are used to much higher wages relative not only to the rest of the world but also to COL. Theyre good at copying, doing the visual bling thing, undercutting with cheap slave labor. Indeed they are capable of doing much better but they build mostly to a cheap undercut price point.
Chinese audio can’t be trusted for longer term usage. It’s sound okay until it breaks down early…..and keeps breaking down. Cheap **** quality parts inside.
After I returned the insulting Chink amp I bought myself a proper one… a price comparable 20 yr old Audio Research unit that was properly built with high quality parts and vastly superior sonics. American designed and American built. Win/win.

This is all spectulation till you actually open the **** plant.
Elon musk has workers sleeping on the floor and staying up 48 hours to get something dont.
Sp to say it can't happen before trying is defeatist.
