The commander of a US Navy warship is apparently a not-so-sharpshooter.
 A commanding officer of the USS John S. McCain, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, was mocked online after he was photographed holding an assault weapon with its scope mounted backward as he took aim at a target known as a “killer tomato.”
 Cmdr. Cameron Yast “observes the live-fire exercise event. The ship is in U.S. 7th Fleet conducting routine operations,” read a caption posted by Defense Visual Information Distribution Service alongside an image of him holding up the weapon with the Trijicon VCOG installed backward while pointed at a large target balloon.

I have the Navy Pistol and Rifle Expert medals that I earned plebe summer, and, as a Fast Frigate Weapons Officer, I was proficient with every small arm in our gun locker.  But it's kind of creepy how you find excuses to mention me in your threads.

You are just SUPER!  There is nothing you can't do from flying a helicopter to firing expert.

Lots of midshipmen got their rifle and pistol medals plebe summer.  Lots of midshipmen got to fly helicopters during 2nd class summer.  I am hardly super.  

You do seem jealous, however... in a creepy gay sort of way.

No, no need to be jealous.  Lot's of mishipman got orientation flights where an instructor shadowed you on the controls.  I have done those with cadets.

Why would I be jealous?  I traveled the world, got paid to do an exciting job, and have a great life.  It is like you are trying to validate your life.

He pulled that on me a few weeks ago.  Trying to make it sound as if he could jump into a Huey and fly away.  I crewed those flights for OCS, ROTC, and West Pointers.  

They are not flying.

Yes, he no doubt has told countless people that  he flew helicopters.
Seems like there should be "STOLEN VALOR LAWS" that apply to **** Heads like MM...?

Here's my "shooting" story.
Going into Basic I had never shot a rifle before.
I was a pretty good ball player and someone with real good eye sight...so I figured I would be an excellent shooter.
After several weeks of training it was time to do the first round of qualifying and I was really nervous because I had been doing badly in training.
I shot 20 out of 40 during the first round of "Record Range" which was barely passing...[aka BOLO]
I blamed it on shooting "lefty" with all of the hot brass that ejects right at you.
A Drill Sgt who normally didn't work with me asked if I had ever taken a dominant eye test and I said NO.
10 seconds later we discovered that I should have been shooting righty all along.
With one week of practice shooting "righty" it was time to do the final round of qualifying.
I ended up tied with some others for high in the company with 38 hits out of 40......
