Iran made a statement to the UN just prior or just after the attack started stating that it was their right to retaliate, and that it was pretty much a fireworks show to present to the world what they were capable of.

It was basically a little more aggressive form of sabre rattling more than anything.

Kind of like a probe.

if Iran was not a formidable -power to be reckoned with because of their Nuclear Arsenal that the west has known about for almost two decades ....Why hasn't the West  brought them to their knees ...????
and Netanayhu knows they have Nukes .....so why is Netanayhu playing with fire and trying to start a war by attacking Syria ???
What makes this a significant show of force by the Iranians is that they have never attacked Israel directly.....
and by doing so they have made a statement that they no longer fear ....

I personally see it as Iran telling the world that not only are they nuclear capable, but they they have the ability to reach out a good bit too. N.Korea was kind of following the same pattern a while back.

I also believe that the only reason a nuke hasn't been touched off in that region up until this point is because all parties still understand the concept of mutually assured destruction.

It will come to a point (biblically) that this assurance will no longer be relevant, but for now, that time hasn't come yet.

I think if anything Iran just painted a big assed target on their own backs. No body in that region wants a major conflict popping off in that part of the world right now... even the Arab States. Hell, I heard a blurb last night while the attack was happening that Jordan was even shooting down some of Iran's ordnance, and that Iraq had planes in the air, but never engaged. They apparently don't want that **** either.

Time will tell I suppose. If they start growing big mushrooms in the next few weeks, there isn't anything a country boy like me can do about but watch, and hunker down afterwards if I make it through it.
