It's an honor to be spit at (not on) three times by Jews 

Like the video when you see them spitting at nuns and priests and the holy Cross it's custom of warding off the evil eye for those people so nothing bad happens to them. 

Not a very sanitary custom, but they mean good and I think it's only the ultra Orthodox Jews that do it.
