NASCAR
I used to think the same thing. Until I realized how grueling and intense it is to sit in a car for 3 hours going 150+ MPH surrounded by cars 4" from you going the same speed taking those left hand turns and not ramming into one.

It's a very skilled "sport" that requires the driver knowing a lot of **** about how the car feels and turns and all that mechanical garbage
I feel the same way about tennis, golf and soccer

Try a simple go-kart for an hour or so.
The kind where you have to drift the curves just to keep up gets you tired.
And concentrating intensely adds to that fatigue.
I'm not even a fan but it is a workout to race.
Like my buddy watching wrestling (which I made fun of too).
He said there is definitely some real athleticism involved in all that choreographed bs.
He's right. Still full of goofy crap, but . . .
Does it matter spinning in clockwise or counterclockwise for centrifugal force to function the same way?
Most people that criticize NASCAR as a "non-sport" would be worn out after making a 500 mile road trip going straight down the interstate at 75mph making bathroom and snack breaks every 100 miles.DeezerShoove » 21 Apr 2024, 8:15 pm » wrote: ↑ Upper body strength is needed.

These guys are racing 41 other drivers door to door through corners at speed averaging around 180mph, while holding onto a 3500lb 750hp machine that's trying it's best to slide into the wall the whole time.
Turning left for 500 miles at speed definitely isn't a "leisurely drive" to the beach or anything. Lol
To be a race fan you need to have a general understanding of aerodynamicmgrip, mechanical grip, tire wear, weight and balance, over seer and under steer (loose and tight), now temperature affects both the tires and the engine, etc etc etc. Aswell as fuel mileage, strategy, etc.DeezerShoove » 22 Apr 2024, 9:33 am » wrote: ↑ Judging NASCAR by the audience members seems to be the stance.
Ergo it is not a sport...![]()
Look at the fat, stupid slobs that watch football... Little league baseball... Whatever...

Sorry, I wasn’t questioning your post. I understood.DeezerShoove » 22 Apr 2024, 9:57 am » wrote: ↑ I was pointing out the POM stance.
Apparently he's got a thing for rednecks and hillbillies.
...probably goes for ghetto trash instead.
The correlation with "rednecks" goes back to the sport's roots when redneck bootleggers would get together and race to see who had the fastest runner in the bunch.DeezerShoove » 22 Apr 2024, 9:33 am » wrote: ↑ Judging NASCAR by the audience members seems to be the stance.
