Best advice for young people is to get a career as some kind of a LICENSED essential services provider and move to Idaho, Montana or Wyoming.
Being licensed helps protect you from the millions of prevailing wage destroying, Illegal alien SCABS that have been deliberately let into the USA.
Buy dilapidated / unimproved land that sits above a strong and relatively shallow aquafer. 
Road access needs to be defined as part of the property.
Home school your kids. 3 ten minute sessions of class time per day to teach reading, writing and arithmetic should be enough. Let them learn at a customized pace that no government controlled school can offer.
Give your kids as little access to [[[JWO]]] TV and Hollywood as possible. 
Give your kids goal oriented, meaningful  responsibilities around the homestead and reward them for helping to "put food on the table".
