Amazingly..I can still find 99% lean beef for $6 / pound, skinless / boneless chicken breasts for $2.50 / lb , chicken dark meat parts for $1.50 / lb and 1/2 gallons of milk for $2.50.
12 packs of soda pop for about 50 cents per can if I buy 48 cans at a time.
Potatoes and carrots are still pretty cheap.
Yes, many other items [basically all pre-prepared foods]  have skyrocketed in price.
There is a family owned Mexican restaurant I have been a customer of for many years.
Last time I stopped by for 2 take out orders of beans and rice and a steak burrito it cost $26.
Almost double what the same order used to cost when Trump was in office.

According to the (((regime))) that’s fake news since inflation is “only” up about 25% since Biden took office. Your take out order can’t possibly be up 90-100%.

I've been tracking expenses for the last year or so, mainly to see how far SS goes. We spend a little over $1000/ month on food, that includes household cleaning supplies. (For 3 people) Been going to Sprouts for produce as the quality at Safeway and Kroger is pretty poor. Can't wait for the farmers markets to open up, even more expensive but well worth it.

You can survive on SS if you set yourself up. If and when the wife retires and who knows how long Mom will live , this household will get $70k a year in SS.

Those wage slaves are doing important work and we thank them!

1/3 of revenue for shelter. 1/3 for food. 1/3 of revenue for other. when you retire you have paid off shelter. you have most of other like cars, furniture and drive less. biggest unknown is utilities. in the future, i predict runaway utility cost will be next. ss goes up with inflation. the inflation number includes shelter and other. so your ss increase always out preforms inflation. i am pushing 100. my biggest problem is utilities. there is a gob of people moving into my area. new construct needs massive new utility construction. local govergoons refuse to bill builders impact fees. my sewer bill jumped up to $480 a month. water bill tripled. electric bill up 15%. governgoons will not allow me to reconnect to my well. need to relocate to an area where there is no growth.

shut off cheap imports, and it will cost 6k a day for living expenses. usa exported cost of living. shut down china, and massive inflation. shut down $1.00 an hour central america farm labor, and food prices jump by or 1,000% (but you stop illegals).
