I find both party's candidates too old. I would have loved to see both parties nominate young, new-generation leaders to fight for American votes in 2024.
That didn't happen.
Neither party nominated a young stallion. Both have chosen an old warrior. I will put my money on the Democrat, because I truly believe that the Republican is a facsist wannabe who tried to overturn the last election and may very well try to ensconce himself as dictator for life. Can you honestly say that the idea of a "unified reich" does not disturb you just a little bit?

I don't want a young stallion. What the hell good is that? There is a "sweet spot" where experience has finally matured most people but vigor has not abandoned their lives. That is decidedly not a young stallion.
Also, a party that would put up with the epitome of mental decline is a **** up party. The hypocrisy that defines you liberal-at-ANY-cost sycophants is way more dangerous to the country at-large than some delusional "dictatorship".
That demented person IS ACTUALLY IN THERE right now (Biden).
Not your "may very well try to ensconce himself" that you irrationally believe (Trump).
Can you honestly say there is any avenue by which that could happen?

I would not have used the word, and the most likely explanation is some staffer (hoping to make an impression) reposted it without reading it carefully. Well, they made an impression...just not the one they hoped for. However, when you look at the synonyms of the German noun "reich" it isn't that disturbing...they are empire, realm and nation. The problem is most in the world associates the word with Hitler...it's use dates back much further.
You do get "whiny liberal points" for the diversion from Bumbling Butthead Biden...so there's that.
