portland beyond repair. a group of young people, from portland area, just bought 40+ acres about 2 miles down the road. building a commune. when the wind blows my way, the air smells like a perfume. must be growing sweet potatoes and sweet corn.

I have a buddy that moved there (Beaverton) in the late 70's...

been there once...before all the **** really went south...beautiful area...

Just wondering if this liberal defeat is tied to the upheaval in Oregon because of the 13 counties that are eager to disassociate themselves with their far-left government and are attempting to redraw their border by incorporating themselves into the red state of Idaho.

No doubt the conservative/republican majorities in those rural eastern OR counties have had it with being stuck under the rule of the far left liberals who dominate Oregon.

13 Oregon counties have now joined the Greater Idaho movement
Voters in Crook County, Ore. approved a measure to support moving the Oregon-Idaho border to incorporate parts of eastern Oregon into the Gem State.


On Tuesday, Crook County in Oregon became the 13th county to approve a proposal to secede from the state and join neighboring Idaho by 53.5 percent of the vote against 46.5 percent, as part of what supporters are calling the "Greater Idaho" project.

Backers of the plan argue the more conservative areas of eastern and central Oregon are currently dominated by liberal-leaning cities such as Portland and Salem and argue their interests would be better represented in traditionally Republican Idaho.

was it a statewide vote or strictly a Portland proper vote? Even if statewide, I doubt they have the numbers...

From what I gather, approval by the internal votes of the 13 counties involved are only the first step.  It still needs approval from both state legislatures and then must get final approval from the US Congress before the border could be redrawn.

I think the realistic hope is that the steps being taken may force Democrats in the state to be mindful of that possibility and take action to prevent it, and we may be seeing that beginning to happen with the recent vote to oust the Soros' DA in Portland.

That would be some kick in the teeth to Democrats, wouldn't it?  The shifting of electoral votes could be significant.
