I am uncertain that it was the min wage hike that is responsible for the downfall of businesses there. It was the straw the broke the camel's back, but it didn't start it. Over a decade ago employees were able to live in a relatively nice condo, afford a car, and live in a decent neighborhood. This was before the min wage increase. Now they can't afford it and driven out of neighborhoods that were once nice. This downfall began before the increase. The farmers are having a hard time keeping up with the costs and now with the min wage increase, it's almost impossible for them to survive.

Engelhart's comments come in wake of California Governor Gavin Newsom's new minimum wage hike, which has posed an unprecedented obstacle for her, and many other small businesses. "Everybody wants their employees to be paid well, but you can't just raise [the] minimum wage and not think that it affects everything else. It's an unhealthy ecosystem. The economics in California, the pieces no longer fit together. When I open this restaurant 13 years ago, a server could live in this neighborhood, have an apartment, go on vacation, and have savings in the bank," Engelhart spotlighted earlier this week. "13 years we've been a vegan restaurant, and I believe that that was the best pathway forward for human health and for the soil and for the planet. And I realized over the years that that was not true. I became a farmer to deal with all of our food waste from the restaurants," the restaurant owner explained on Wednesday."I started to realize there is no agriculture without death. That is an illusion. And we need to support American farmers that are doing the right thing, that are really letting the animals have a better life and doing the right thing for the soil."

We HAD a lunch wagon- It was called the Lobster Roll express. We sold high end fish- the lobster meat cost- HUGE prices- fried shrimp- scallops- haddock
We would travel thru the back roads of Maine to buy potatoes- thru the fields- into the farms- smelling the cow sheet- all the way- we would pick up 10 bags 50 lbs by the dozens-

Nepotism will decide that. I mean, if you're a billionaire, certainly your kid needs to be one, too. So the number of billionaires will grow - like royal families grew. And there'll be purges - like there were in royal families. Infighting will keep their numbers reasonable, no doubt.
