99.9% of these people are addicted to spending money on things they don't need.
If we could take a good look at every nickel that passes through their hands, we will see that much of their spending is driven by social trend addiction, jealousy, laziness and the need to have all the neat stuff that everyone else has.
For many years I've enjoyed reading Backwoods Home Magazine and other similar publications simply because of all the articles that are submitted by people who have made a "science" out of living frugally.
One of the monthly contributors to that magazine, John Silviera wrote political commentary as a libertarian. He was the guy who originally posted this ad that almost everyone has seen or heard of by now..
As they were approaching a deadline to print the next issue there  was some dead space in the classified ads section and John  quickly dreamed up this ad  to use as "filler".

We may disagree a bit here sir.  Blaming the poor for being poor is a tool of the elites.
The govt has a job to make sure its populace is provided for if they are willing
to work. 

You dont see a rampant out of control homeless population and TENT CITIES  in China or Russia.
That should prompt a lot of thinking about why.

How many young people WILL DO FOR THEMSELVES a nasty, filthy dirty and sweaty brake job instead of paying someone else $1000 for doing that simple job for them [while they sit at home playing video games and smoking dope]...? Or just an oil and air filter change...? [guess what 68 year old me is doing today on my 40 year old pick up truck    ]
How about opening up the back of a washing machine or dryer to troubleshoot a problem that Google could lead them by the hand to fix...? [I just found a loose connection and the "start switch" of my clothes dryer last week. The problem was fixed in 15 minutes [thanks to google] instead of calling out a "technician"]
We've got lines of the "Working Poor" at the espresso stands daily and also in line to have their 300 hp SUVs washed by Illegal Aliens at the drive through car washes.
BTW..another job I have pending is my GF's Nissan ate a rod bearing  and instead of junking the car, or spending $5000 to have a rebuilt engine installed for us...I'll buy a new crank for $120 and get the rods reconditioned for another $100...then spend another $1000 on new sensors, gaskets, filters, belts, hoses, timing chain...basically routine maintenance stuff that anyone would do after a complete tear down.
If I had to rely on other people to handle my emergencies I never would have lasted a year out here on my 5 acres in the woods.
