They never match the hype. Not all, but some are disappointing as hell.
It boils down to expectations.
Meeting James Carville would be the opposite. I expect he is as ugly as a mud fence.
Face-to-face I'm sure he'd wouldn't disappoint.![]()
Seriously, outward appearances aside, talking with some people can be rewarding.
Having no real expectations can lead to a pleasant surprise.
But having none of those means you aren't meeting a "hero", someone you believe you know something about.
Das stimmt...

I met Santana elsewhere, and he just looked like Santana. Hard faced, with terrible skin.

met Elizabeth Taylor at the arthritis specialist. She had back issues- She sat in front of me. and she was frustrated- no one was paying attention to her or noticing.DeezerShoove » 09 Aug 2024, 5:23 am » wrote: ↑ I met Bob Seger at a local bar. Needed a shave and some dental work.

Just locals. Seemed like average guys, I guess.
A buddy of mine, military brat, moved here couldn't believe how much for granted we locals took Bob Seger.
"He's a pretty big star in the rest of the country." he said. Oh well.
A work mate of mine had Ted Nugent for a neighbor. Said he was a pretty decent guy.
Got noisy once in a while... parties, crowds, hunting and shooting.
"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" was the best thing she ever did.sootedupCyndi » 09 Aug 2024, 5:44 am » wrote: ↑ met Elizabeth Taylor at the arthritis specialist. She had back issues- She sat in front of me. and she was frustrated- no one was paying attention to her or noticing.
