f she's elected president, Kamala Harris pledges to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on the wall along the southern border — a project she once opposed and called "un-American" during the Trump administration.Why it matters: It's the latest example of Harris flip-flopping on her past liberal positions such as supporting Medicare for All and banning fracking — proposals that aides say she now is against. 

• Harris is embracing a more hawkish immigration policy as Donald Trump's campaign spends tens of millions of dollars attacking her about the border.
• But she still has significant differences with Trump on immigration, opposing his approach to family separation and his plans for mass deportations.

Driving the news: In her speech to the Democratic National Convention last week, Harris said she would sign the recent bipartisan border security bill — which Trump had ordered his allies to kill, fearing it would help Democrats in the November elections.

• That bill, negotiated by senators such as James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), requires hundreds of millions of dollars of unspent funds to be used to continue building a wall on the border. 
• "It requires the Trump border wall," Lankford told Axios. "It is in the bill itself that it sets the standards that were set during the Trump administration: Here's where it will be built. Here's how it has to be built, the height, the type, everything during the Trump construction."
• Harris' campaign says the border deal is a whole lot more than continuation of wall funding — and a tiny fraction of what Trump has proposed.

I also saw that.  I'm guessing once they see it they will pressure the Campaign to issue a clarification.

(AP) — Facing the need to win battleground Pennsylvania, Vice President Kamala Harris is swearing off any prior assertion that she opposed fracking, but that hasn’t stopped Republican Donald Trump from wielding her now-abandoned position to win over voters in a state where the natural gas industry means jobs.

Last week, in his first appearance in Pennsylvania since Harris became the Democrats’ presumptive nominee, Trump repeatedly warned that Harris would ban fracking — a position she held as a presidential primary candidate in 2019 — and devastate the economy in the nation’s No. 2 natural gas state.

“She’s against fracking, she’s against oil drilling, she wants everybody to have one electric car and share it with the neighbors,” Trump told rallygoers at a Harrisburg rally on Wednesday, which was also his first appearance in the state since he was wounded in a July 13 assassination attempt in Butler County. “Harris has stated repeatedly that she supports, quote, banning fracking. I’ll ban fracking, I’ll ban it on my first day.”


Harris’ campaign, in a statement, insisted she would not ban fracking, and called Trump’s claims an “attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class.”

How can they say it was racist and now they say it isn't?

Once an advocate of what she herself called a “mandatory gun buyback program” for so-called assault weapons, Harris now insists she no longer supports firearms confiscation, compensated or otherwise. “There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking,” the Democratic presidential nominee once insisted. Now, her campaign maintains that she favors the exploitation of America’s domestic-energy reserves, and the Trump campaign’s “false claims about fracking bans are an obvious attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class.” Harris portrays herself today as a “border state prosecutor” with a record of supporting the “toughest border control” measures possible. In reality, she was anything but.


Harris once supported a Medicare-for-All plan that would by necessity eliminate the private health-insurance industry. Now, she doesn’t. The vice president no longer backs a Soviet-style “federal job guarantee” or programs that shift funding away from local police forces and toward alternatives to law enforcement like social workers and “community interventionists.” She’s even appropriated Donald Trump’s proposal to eliminate taxation on income that service workers derive from tips despite serving in an administration that presided over an IRS crackdown on employers and employees alike who underreport tips.
