very interesting. $5 an hour a year for 6 years = $30 an hour increase by end of contract ..... this will have an impact on all labor contracts. ...... but will not keep up with forecast inflation in usa. ........ another bigger issue.......limited automation.....china and developing nations are going automation....reducing cost of food deliveries....benefiting all the people....not a minority.....good for the strikers....bad for usa future economy. ........this is a win/loss/loss/win. ......more you think about are more win/loss you come up with.......if you think..... rather than being controlled by media propaganda from the usa government. (when it comes to wages distribution, and automation; japan is far ahead of all nations.......greedy usa last......usa policies are all based on greed; not what is good for the nation........so usa declines. )
 

Keep in mind...this is NOT over. The tentative agreement is on compensation. They go back to work until mid-January while they negotiate on the HUGE sticking point of automation at the ports. Apparently, the union leadership is not completely stupid (which is rare among union leaders) because they knew they would get roasted during the holidays if they didn't get back to work with this concession offer. However, they are stupid enough to think their jobs should be just about the only jobs that don't suffer because of automation. Good luck with that.
