I feel like ever since the lockdowns, a decent chunk of the population (at least in the US where I live) has become a bunch of entitled assholes.
Their behavior grows worse each passing day, because they can act like an asshole and get away with it.
It's getting to the point where confronting someone over their bad behavior comes with risk to your own life, and I wish I was exaggerating.
People have opened fire on fast food workers for incorrect orders or being short changed.
I think this is a product of the increasingly unreasonable amount of **** people have to take to live in society.
You have to work harder and longer hours for less spending power, everyone you encounter is less competent/motivated because they have to work longer and harder for less spending power, and every company is trying to make every interaction more difficult for you because it makes them an extra tenth of a peso in profit.
People lose their **** when their time is wasted because that's what happens to most of their time and almost everyone lives on the ragged edge of their breaking point.
“[Maximizing individual gain at the expense of everyone else] works at first because we have built up a savings of goodwill, but as those savings get devoured, you see the real face of the [late stage capitalist] system’”You really can't have a society where everyone trying to maximize their own gain over everyone else's.
It works at first because we have built up a savings of goodwill amongst us as society, as those savings (from previous system) gets eaten up, you increasingly see the real face of the current system.
This society is profoundly sick, but that's late stage capitalism for you.
All the things we came together for that make a society function are being taken away. IMO the very social contract has been broken.
I’ve noticed this heavily too, I’m in Canada. It’s not like every person I met was just peachy before or anything, there’s always been a$$holes & always will be.
Even with that, there’s definitely been a noticeable downturn in public politeness/decency. The average social interaction is a lot more negative now than it ever used to be before 2019
The evidence of late-stage Capitalism is all around us.LowIQTrash » 21 Oct 2024, 6:19 pm » wrote: ↑![]()

Just an example: The Federal government owns 460 million square feet of office space with only 30-35% utilization. Romney would have known how to handle that situation.
As to the OP, it's good to be retired. Things have gotten a little weird

[Well the reality is Obama also did Wall St’s agenda but pretended not to]
My charts say we need a nice correction before 40-45. We may even drop below 30 again (briefly)Fuelman » 22 Oct 2024, 12:15 pm » wrote: ↑ Obama was a disappointment, he couldn't get past his reflection in the mirror.
