To paraphrase Alan Watts, if your company is wildly successful at selling a **** product & you make a lot of money doing so, you will quickly find you have nothing to spend your money on except other people's **** products.
So, I have this theory & you've sorta brushed alongside it.
If the system meets everyone's needs and prosperity can be enjoyed by all participants in the game, the parasites & power-hungry weasels can't promise you anything that you don't already have. It's harder to coerce people or get them to tolerate your **** when they are not desperate.
By having a massive heap of cash (or whatever passes as “wealth”) that's not being used, the value of the currency as it cycles through the economy stays artificially inflated & (importantly) that wealth isn't going to cycle back into the hands of the poors.
Poor people are more likely to serve a cruel & uncaring overlord without complaint, because they are desperate merely for the means to survive
BUT feed them a little Hustle Culture, maybe a bump or 3 of the “American Dream” (lol) & suddenly they're eager to bust *** for almost nothing.
Billionaires make ghettos possible, not just by hoarding, but by flexing the hoard with material status symbols & enticing/luring others.
The Owners need poor or desperate people to do the work, so they make sure there are poor people. Hoarding wealth is simply one part of a complex mechanism of power & control on a vast scale. The machine is functioning as intended. Carry on.
