Ok, so perhaps I lumped these attempts at regulation and shutting them down under environmentalism. You make a valid point and have segregated these issues a little more than I did from the onset. Its my guess that this was due mainly how remote it is and how it is desert wasteland with nothing of significance next to it. In CA, AZ, and UT.. it is probably more environmentalists and red tape (BLM land). Them BLM folks are a strange bunch. The United States was once self-sufficient in mining and refining its own rare earth elements. Most of these REE's are in non-arable, worthless desert land. Rare Earth Elements is the very first thing Trump should slap tariffs on. Do it before China ramps up more rhetoric about halting shipments to the US. In fact, Biden should have done this 4 years ago, the worthless limp-dick piece of ****.
Even what U.S.'s MP Materials mines in the Mojave, it ships to China for separation and refinement. Idiots believe China controls the global flow of these metals. But, it only does so because the U.S. (and other mineral-rich countries) is too scared to tariff China and produce their own minerals. Ninety percent of Americans are indoctrinated idiots who have been taught by Biden and Dems to fear the sick, fat Dragon.

China used to be smart. But, Xi is spreading China thin. Making bad bets on unstable countries and threatening to withhold so-called rare earth elements from a country that is sitting on huge REE untapped resources. Xi is getting weak in the brain. He's over 70 now. The Party knows they its time to make Xi disappear.

Trump will have the power to open these lands up to mining and eliminate the regulations that are hamstringing our mining companies. But short sided policy since Nixon reached out 2 the "Bamboo" curtain in the 70s our politicians said our own corporations coukd move there cheap labor.
China nowadays enjoys almost a "Middle Class" Life-Style today & their labor aint so cheap as it once was.
Infact Big Corporations looking to India, Philipines, & Vietnam cheaper labor less regulations too
