Well, to be fair "they" are saying it was Putin - who knows really. Was it because Assad told the Israelis where strategic Russian military assets were?

Is Putin feared enough that all he has to do is nod toward someone and his goons have their marching orders?
Of course. All politicians, pretty much, are criminals.
Then there's the plausible deniability firmly in place so he and his defenders can say Putin didn't order it or have anything to do with it.
Why isn't that as good an explanation as any?
