Here are the reasons why Trump wants Greenland. As always, it has to do with war and minerals. He says acquiring Greenland is a matter of national security because it is a gateway for Russian and Chinese vessels. Thus, we can blow them up if our government feels like it. Have you noticed that the excuse is always "national security." Every time we assert our military where we don't belong....it's because of national security. It's always that.

The economy of the island is largely reliant on its fishing industry.

They want Greenland for the rare earth minerals and oil that could be extracted. I would oppose a military takeover. They want to be fully independent.. not an autonomous region of Denmark. Can't see why they should not be allowed to be on their own.

The rare earth minerals and oil are not infinite in supply. So eventually they will run out. What do we do with Greenland when it offers none of these benefits?

Ukraine has an abundance of minerals also. It's unlikely that they will come out the victor, but if they did, America would just walk on in , extract the minerals, then leave them to pick of the mess.

Yes.
I don't think Trump really wants to annex Greenland. I think he wants to increase our military presence there. Same with his his tariffs. It is a negotiating tool. Start big and then talk down to what you really want.
