It sounds like Greenland gave Trump a hard no on buying it. In contrast, Trump gave them a hard yes on taking it. Well...since we have the bigger stick, and our government is addicted to bloodshed, I think it safe to assume that our government will take it by force.

Greenland would be a boondoggle.  If it wants to be part of the U.S., fine.  If not, fine.  Greenland is not militarily necessary.  Here is a REAL map of Greenland...Just buy Ellesmere island from Canada, but don't pay much for it.  Seriously, we already have Alaska, and that really is enough.

LETS be serious here... Donald Trump is just trying to SHOCK the American people into understanding the importance of Greenland... to America and the west... and wants people to start talking about it!  He has shocked Democrats by saying we MIGHT invade Greenland... but a recent Greenland poll seemed to indicate that if offered, 60% of Greenland would like to VOLUNTARILY vote to be part of the United States, and would VOTE for Statehood...

I think THAT would be the PREFERRED path forward... and if THAT is a possibility... WHY would we invade them?

NOW... Panama, with their Dictatorial and SOCIALIST history... IF Panama, and their Chinese masters decide to THREATEN American trade... using the canal as a threat...  and SINCE we BUILT the canal and GAVE it to Panama with certain strings attached...  IF THEY think they're going to SCREW America... they MAY be in for a rude awakening... and find out the HARD way... like Manuel Noriega did in 1989 !!

Threatening to bomb a nation in such a cavalier manner to just start a conversation is a pretty sociopathic thing to say. How about just telling the truth? You know, simply say why it's important and how it will benefit both sides.

I haven't followed this issue and so what you've reported here about this is news to me.

He wants Greenland for strategic military reasons against Russia and China.

He won't admit it, but Greenland is also rich in minerals and oil. Not to mention graphite and lithium which are used for EVs. Gee...I wonder who would benefit from that.  

He has said that he would invade.

I think Greenland's main strategic value to us is to get a foot hold there before Russia can.
I think Greenland realizes that the way things sit now, Russia doesn't have any reason to  launch missiles at them or to invade them on foot.
If Greenland was to grant us land for a missile base, then that would definitely make them much more vulnerable to  getting nuked.
If our interest in Greenland was purely economic....then we should just leave the door wide open to Greenland if they need our help and leave it at that.

We already have a military presence there ....and have  for decades now.
and Greenland hasn't stated that it would NOT join America ....
In fact it's just the opposite ....

They say it's not for sale while also saying that becoming An American territory or state would have to be done by a referendum or vote ....
Which tells me that they are very much open to the possibility...
