Meta Platforms to begin layoffs on Monday, Reuters reports Meta Platforms plans to carry out its company-wide layoffs this week while pushing ahead on its expedited hiring of machine learning engineers, Katie Paul of Reuters reports, citing internal memos seen by the journal.
Employees will begin receiving notice of losing their jobs on Monday in most countries, according to one of the posts reviewed by Reuters.
Before commenting I had to learn what a "Machine Learning Engineer" is.
They've been crying wolf about how "AI is going to eliminate 30-50% of white collars" that nobody believes them now*GHETTOBLASTER » 10 Feb 2025, 2:55 am » wrote: ↑ Before commenting I had to learn what a "Machine Learning Engineer" is.
To be a success in this field you must make a measurable contribution to the field of programming electronically driven logic circuits to make intelligent decisions that are based on the circuit's ability to assign weighted values to various inputs in order to arrive at desired results..... plus factor various risk vs reward calculations to know when it's wise to settle for an expedient result vs the best possible result.
IOW the successful Machine Learning Engineer devises a totally brilliant system of "human level electronic wisdom" in order to create Electronic Machinery capable of replacing skilled human labor and even management .
The successful "MLE" wins all sorts of awards plus a nice raise...and the other 999,999 monkeys that were hired to hopefully invent the same thing can be let go....!
I am willing to bet that if I told Tech Employees 25 years ago that they would be getting replaced by machinery in the year 2025 most would think I was a wacked out RW Conspiracy Theorist... [since their jobs required college degrees and of course their superior "critical thinking skills"].

What separates technological evolution for genetic evolving with each reproduction never staying the shape of their orginal form since conceived by previous generation gap of specific two ancestors of separate ancestral lineages?Vegas » 10 Feb 2025, 11:04 am » wrote: ↑ This gives credence to my argument about AI. Adapting to the moment here.

Minds of the same social consensus are like birds of a feather flocking together as an alternate reality of everyone ignoring how self evident adaptingto the moment since conceived works in plain sight daily.
