that may be trump is bending over backwards for putin. and it would not be payback from ukraine so it would not be US money.

Are rare earth metals so precious that a war cannot be fought and won without having a veritable mountain of the stuff?

Oh no.  That region of Ukraine, Eastern Ukraine will be where we dump the toxic waste from our mining operations.  It's all good. Did you know Ukraine has Uranium?  We will be setting up our centrifuges on Russia's border. 2300 lbs of Uranium, annually.
