Despite the "Heart-Break" Lost Jobs..

Too this day in my Area half the vehicles on the Road are Dodge Ram Pickups or Jeeps.

The plants been torn down decades ago.

But we still remember "American Motors" & Chrysler even under "Chrysler" kept the plants going awhile

25 years to the day they shot "JFK" they stopped making cars in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

But the Engine Plant across town survived afew more decades.

The Lakefront Plant was "Leveled" 1991/1992 built a park and condos over it..

Also Kenosha used to be a Gr8 Lakes "Port Of Call" could accomodate big lake freighters.

After American Motors completely "Folded" was no need for a Shipping Port anymore.

Still a "Coast Guard Station though

When American Motors had Renault buy 46% of it in the 80's, the goal was to increase AMC market share to 3%.
Think of how small that is. They wanted to aggressively increase car sales to 3%.
Jeep was the real plum in all the times that car company was sold/bought/merged... whatever.
American, French, German, Italian, American (again), etc...
Small or large, it takes big plants and lots of money to design, produce and sell cars.
Please seat yourself.

Renault the "French" only interest was use our "Network" Dealerships plus owning a half stake in America Motors.

Renault made one very good car that even Chrysler kept making afew model years after "complete" Takeover..

We called it the AMC Appliance.
There was 200 pounds of steel added to the Americanized version of the Renault 9.
It otherwise could not pass seat belt pull tests, roof crush tests, impact, etc. per FMVSS.

Sure, the dealership network was desirable. Why wouldn't it be?
But they didn't just ship cars over to sell here, did they?
Please seat yourself.

For a time very early 1980s Renault was made in Kenosha for "American" Market  before Chrysler came in wanted our big plants the "K-Cars" platform brought them outta "Bankruptcy" paid off the Federal Loans .

They sold so well Lee Iaccoca saw American Motors "Stuggling" and Spare Capacity keep up with sales.

From 1985/1986 on Kenosha manufactured Chrysler Products under "Contract".

By 1988 Chrysler fully bought out "AMC"

We need a meme of a wedge of Wisconsin Sharp up Musk's butt this morning.

Kenosha could be great again. The trade agreements that got us where we are is a bipartisan effort.

I am just not a fan of the wrecking ball approach that Musk/Trump is taking.

It's an uphill battle when the only thing of worth you produce is the jeep and the javelin...no wonder they went the way of the Rambler...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_9_and_11Assembly I should say though in the Final Aqquisition 1988 Chrysler had Stockpiles of AMC parts .

Up until the early 1990s might have had a Chrysler Badge but AMC parts like a GM Square key and Ignition switch yes AMC bought those from General Motors put them on their cars
they seemed to buy what was available as they ran Buick engines in their CJs for decades...

Musk's days in an arena of power are numbered.  Tesla is gonna die. Perhaps his robots will save him and his investors.
looks like you've got a wish in one hand and a fresh steaming turd in the other...which do you think is real?
