My advice would be to end it entirely!
There is NOTHING that government can do more efficiently than private businesses.
If parents were given vouchers for the amount we're spending on education for each kid, private ownership in education would be happy to provide a far better system in record time than what we have now!  Parents would NOT tolerate the kind of failure we see in the public schools if they had the ability to pull their kid out and place them in a better schools.  And those parents who WANT their child to be taught to choose their own sex, have drag queen story hours, read sexually explicit books, advance the LGBTQ agenda, allow biological men to compete in women's sports, install tampon machines in boys restrooms, and be taught how evil the US has been throughout history will still be able to find schools that provide that.  But the schools that will be in far greater demand will be the ones cutting out all that **** and use that time to teach reading, writing, math, and history, and those schools will flourish and grow by huge numbers.

And I guarantee that cities filled with minority populations would overnight be transformed into having overwhelming numbers of voters who switch to the Republican party based on that one issue as Democrats scream with rage!

The average reading level of the American adult is 7th grade. Most of the developed world is 11th grade +. Can you imaging parents with a 7th grade reading level homeschool?

It's actually worse than that in our major cities.
Believe me when I tell you, I've seen dozens of high school "graduates' in one of the largest minority cities in NJ (where education funding is among the highest in the country) who were incapable of filling out a simple employment application with virtually no skills in reading comprehension, spelling, sentence construction, and without a clue regarding punctuation.  And the saddest thing of all was the fact that these kids THOUGHT they were well educated simply because they had been pushed through school from one grade to another without any skills and "achieved" a high school diploma, which wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.  And that reality was only proven to them after they got rejected from one potential job after another.  And this was repeated year after year with a new crop of under-educated minority kids being thrust into the job market without the most basic skills that would be needed in even the most menial jobs.

Inevitably, they believe they're being discriminated against because of their color, because they BELIEVE they are qualified, but are in reality rejected in favor of someone else who could actually read and write.  And things have only gotten worse since I sold off my factory in favor of dedicating the facility to construct low-income housing, so I can only imagine how much worse it's gotten now after the schools were forced to close down for two years during Covid.

Oh man. I can tell you stories. It's bad. I ran into a freshman in college who claimed that Japan and China were involved in their own civil war during WWII. I told him that is impossible. I explained what a civil war was. He stated he knew. He thought that Japan was a city inside China and that Japan was trying to fight for their independence from Japan. I said , do you mean Taiwan? I explained that they had a complex history. Japan had control of Tiawan up to the end of the war, then China took over administrative role of it. He said no. He meant Japan. I said that Japan is a **** country of its own, as is China. It is not a city in China. He argued with me a little bit until he Googled it. Unbelievable.
