Electricity-producing windmills are like herpes. They popped up over night. Dotted the landscape with ugliness. And, then more ugliness when the fins break, the bodies rust and corrode, and they stop working. And, even more ugliness when the government has to pay companies to repair and replace beginning 3 days after a square mile of them start to break down.MR-7 » Today, 11:10 am » wrote: ↑ on that money. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on Friday that his agency plans to cut billions in grant funds for Biden-era loans as the Trump administration conducts a review of the department’s $400 billion clean energy investments, a decision that energy policy experts who spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation cheered on.
Before leaving office, former President Joe Biden squeezed $25 billion into the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) for various projects, with the bulk of the funds going toward renewable energy development. Wright’s newly announced plans to review and cancel a majority of the loans has the backing of several energy policy experts who told the DCNF that the LPO has stripped cash from taxpayers and contributed to U.S. grid instability.

Very true Skans...but, here is the burning question. Why was it ok to protect the **** "delta smelt" fish, at the expense of depriving fire fighters' water to fight fires, but birds being killed by windmills is just fine?Skans » 32 minutes ago » wrote: ↑ Electricity-producing windmills are like herpes. First of all, probably a lot. Second, as far as I'm concerned, Windmills killing birds is a net benefit to the global environment. A valid reason for having windmills. We should just name them "high capacity bird eradicators" or "bird-fart abaters", or even the "Food for the Homeless" program. So, how many birds are killed by wind turbines each year? Studies published in journals like Nature Communications and data from the Fish and Wildlife Service estimate that hundreds of thousands of birdsare killed annually in the U.S. alone.
Seems democrats are all for harming kids and animals.

Moniz points to a small company called Beacon Power as an example. It got an Energy Department loan, went bankrupt and defaulted on about $14 million in debt. Today the company is back in business, providing a valuable service to electricity grids and repaying the rest of its loan. In eastern Pennsylvania, one of Beacon's facilities sits on 4 acres in an industrial park. Underground are 200 black flywheels that each measure 7 feet tall and 3 feet around, and weigh 2,000 pounds. They spin faster when storing energy and slow down when releasing it.
Beacon Power received a $43.5 million federal loan guarantee in August 2010 from the Department of Energy2.
Beacon Power declared bankruptcy on October 31, 2011.
