417K is highly respectable! So, your jeep has a 4.0? Must be an older Jeep with the inline 6. But, it can't be that old if it has a crank position sensor. Why would it even need a crack position sensor? I could understand a cam position sensor - heck, they probably work together to electronically adjust timing. Wish I had even known about that - could probably fix that one myself.
The exhaust manifolds on the 3.8 are cast parts. They are known to crack - likely a wear item. I hate working on exhausts, especially old ones. All the hardware is usually rusted and fused on - need a torch to get it a part. That's where my tinkering ends and my wallet opening up begins.
Mine's a 1993.
The 4.0 Jeep engine is a re-incarnated Rambler / AMC 258 engine that dates back to 1964.
[If I was a more dedicated SHTF Prepper, I would scrounge up all the parts to convert my 4.0 to a one barrel carburetor and single point, non electronic ignition....

About the CPS...the most accurate way to divide a circle into equal parts is to start with the largest circle you can.
This is what makes the flywheel the best choice to use as a reference.
Yep, it's always a Crap Shoot when you're working with rusty nuts & bolts.
That's when you get out the ox-acetylene torch and a can of PB RUST BLASTER to heat and marinate the rusty parts into submission....
