You talk a lot.

You now even less about this than you do the Semi Auto Sporter and those based on its design.

Since he is under the very ignorant and false narrative that the Sporter was designed for the battle he wants it banned. Since it was not designed for the battlefield, it only LOOKS LIKE IT WAS, he really wants it banned for it's appearance.
I saw a "melt down" you tube demo done with one of the lowest priced AR15 style rifles that were on the market.
The guy had enough magazines to continuously feed ammo into the rifle for something like 5 minutes if I remember correctly.
The rifle was converted to full auto BTW.
The guy was wearing welder's gloves and other protective gear just in case of an explosion.
The rifle started malfunctioning after 100s of rounds of continuous fire but it still could shoot in single shot mode.
The barrel was glowing red hot after the heat shield grips had melted off the barrel.

I would call that weapon "battle ready".......but so what...?. Image

A SECOND CLASS RIGHT?????!!!!!!!????

DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER!

After applying that new framework to Maryland's ban, the 4th Circuit concluded last year that the assault weapons ban is constitutional. Focusing on the AR-15 in particular, the appeals court found that it is most useful in military service and can be banned consistent with the Second Amendment.

It also rejected the challengers' contention that because the guns covered by Maryland's ban are commonly used, they are protected by the Constitution. Instead, the 4th Circuit said adopting this argument would mean that any dangerous weapon "could gain constitutional protection merely because it becomes popular before the government can sufficiently regulate it."

And if you don't think it can get any uglier for the Sporting Rifle crowd....
I just caught your thread title when you mentioned Assault Long Rifle on another thread.  According to your title MD just banned the M 16.

An assault rifle is defined as a selective-fire firearm that fires an intermediate-power cartridge and is capable of both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire. It typically uses a detachable magazine and is designed for military use. The term "assault rifle" is often used interchangeably with "assault weapon," but this is incorrect as "assault weapon" is a broader term that can include semi-automatic rifles.

Here is some logic for you:

I will take the L when you do the following:

And the civilian models:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_C ... ian_models

Here is the challenge again:

Now, to end this.  Using the link I gave you years ago and you have misunderstood ever since, do the following.  If you answer correctly, showing you are wrong,  I will take Monday thru Friday off.  If you prove me wrong, I will take a month off.

1.  Post what list the AR 15 semi automatic sports rifle is listed in.  Military or civilian.

2.  Post the year range that the AR 15 Semi Auto sports rifle was standard issue in the military to infantryman.

If you answer honestly both questions I will take the 5 days off. If you show the dates the Sporter was standard issue for the military and that t is on the military list I will take the Month of Sep off.

Gulf War, 1991. A Marine officer reported that "several Marines commented that they had to shoot Iraqi soldiers 2-3 or more times with the 62-grain 5.56mm green tip ammo before they stopped firing back at them.... An Iraqi officer, still on fire, faced the firing line of Marines and charged forward firing his weapon from the hip. He didn't hit anyone, but two Marines each nailed him with a three-- round burst from their M-16A2s. One burst hit him immediately above his heart, the other in his belly button. [He] ... kept right on charging and firing until his magazine was empty.... The surgeons told me he certainly died of burns, but not necessary from the six 5.56-mm wounds."Somalia, 1993. Army Sergeant First Class Paul Howe, a Delta Force soldier, noted that the 5.56-mm green-tip round made a small clean hole and passed right through the enemy. Unless it happened to hit the heart or spine, it was not enough to stop a man in his tracks. "Howe felt like he had to hit a guy five or six times just to get his attention."
Afghanistan, 2002. A soldier who preferred to remain anonymous e-mailed the following account to me in April 2002: "The current-issue 62-grain 5.56-mm (.223) round, especially when fired from the short-barreled, M-4 carbine, is proving itself (once again) to be woefully inadequate as [a] man stopper. Engagements at all ranges are requiring multiple, solid hits to permanently bring down enemy soldiers. Penetration is also sadly deficient. Even light barriers are not perforated by this rifle and cartridge combination."

These reports are consistent with my experience during three tours of duty in Vietnam from 1964 to 1969. It was apparent that the 5.56-mm cartridge was nothing more than the commercial Remington .223 cartridge used for hunting small game. (The state of Virginia does not permit it to be used for hunting deer because it cannot ensure a "clean kill" on deer.) Yet its full-metal-jacket military counterpart continues to be issued to U.S. combatants for the purpose of knocking down and killing or disabling enemy soldiers.
