Juneteenth is short for June Nineteenth. Since 2021, it's been a  U.S. holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It specifically marks June 19, 1865, the day that Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas and announced to enslaved African Americans that they were free...two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued by Lincoln on January 1, 1863.

I read quite a bit about the civil war. It's history is very much relevant today. I voted the first yes because people forget the obvious-that about 600k white people died in a very bloody and gory manner to free the slaves.

This should be the last holiday we ever have. We have enough. If something happens in the meantime that deserves a holiday, then we need to trade it out with one we already have.

Lincoln really messed up. He woke up after a three day drunk, spoke to his chief of staff, and said, "I freed who?"

PS: One poll answer says it's the end of American history. It should be rephrased.

I got the first one off. I was an apartment maintenance technician so the company wanted to give low rent respect. That an most of the rent came from  the gubomint so if you disrespected them you would have an eviction nightmare on your mind and the landlord would go bankrupt.
