Personally, I don't see the logic in Russia dragging this out on purpose.
Waiting for a presidential cycle in USA to run its course is one thing.
That was over more than 7 months ago. So, that can't be it.

I'm seeing this stuff^ and arguments for the slow-play as well.
Could be a little of column A and a little of column B.
IOW Russia may have to move slowly but can use that to their advantage regardless.
Then spin doctors can theorize all they want because facts support both sides. Typical.

Maybe Putin should accept a reality....I mean, just sayin. I really don't care if they fight till the cows come home.

The Ukrainian military has regained control of Andriivka and has generally stabilized the situation along the Kindrativka-Yunakivka line, Syrskyi added.
Russian invaders in Sumy Oblast are retreating after suffering heavy casualties — Center for Countering Disinformation
