Zuckerberg proves he os a scumbag once again. If he can't get what he wants, then he just throws money around. Meta doesn't have enough talent in-house to achieve a high level of Artificial General Intelligence. Thus, he goes outside to find it. He gets denied by the top scientist. So what does Zuckerberg do? He goes to the guy's funders and buys them out The money behind the money.

Why doesn't Zuckerberg just try to do better with his own talent? Lead them. Find ways to get them trained to be better. So now, this poor scientist will more than likely have to deal with a hostile take over simply because Zuckerberg has money and he doesn't.
In the escalating arms race for artificial general intelligence (AGI), few moves have been as brazen, or as revealing, as Meta’s failed attempt to acquire Safe Superintelligence (SSI), the secretive $32 billion startup co-founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever. The social media giant made a serious bid for the one-year-old company earlier this year, according to CNBC, but was rebuffed by Sutskever. Now, Meta is taking a different route: acquiring the people instead of the company. Meta has successfully hired SSI co-founder Daniel Gross and former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman - who together also run the influential venture fund NFDG - as part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s escalating push into superintelligence. The two will report to Alexandr Wang, the Scale AI founder who joined Meta last week as part of a $14.3 billion deal that gave the company a 49% stake in Scale. According to sources, Meta will also acquire a stake in NFDG, one of Silicon Valley’s most coveted early-stage AI funds.

You seemed to have forgotten that AI is a new level of computer skills and there are NO "degrees" to be found in Universities that says "AI" in front of it. It's THAT new a discipline and only a handful of people are proficient in implementing it. So of course there is going to be massive efforts to obtain people and companies WITH those people.

It's called FREE ENTERPRISE and if you oppose that, MOVE!!

His hypocrisy is at a whole other level. His whole MO is based on hypocrisy:
  • Demands answers to his questions while evading everybody else's.
  • Demands proof of claims while he refuses to provide evidence of his claims.
  • His rules don't apply to him.
I could go on...

You guys already provide plenty of banter with that boring, repetitive troll.

A couple of times I have clicked on just his posts in a given thread just for laughs.

You need to read a few books on ECONOMICS and how BUSINESSES actually work!!!

Mergers and takeovers are a part of being a PUBLICLY HELD CORPORATION as is acquiring people from companies that have what you need.

You can call them "hostile" if you want, but the reality is, WHOEVER OWNS THE STOCK CONTROLS THE COMPANY. PERIOD!!! And the MAJORITY HOLDER OF THAT STOCK HAS MORE SAY THAN ANYONE!! PERIOD!! If you don't like that aspect, DON'T GO PUBLIC WITH ANY IPO!! PERIOD!!

THAT'S HOW FREE ENTERPRISE WORKS!! PERIOD!!

This isn't a merger. And takeovers vs hostile takeovers are two very different things. The guy started his own AI startup. He has a right to tell Zuckerberg to **** off. Which is what he did. Then Zuckerberg decides to buy out his funders so he can have the scientist. Now the scientist, with no choice of his own, is forced to work under Zuckerberg. He wasn't some employee at another company. It was his his company. If he doesn't want to work under Zuck, then he will have to close down. That isn't free enterprise. That is tyranny disguised as free enterprise. Free enterprise would be that he simply tells Zuck to pound sand and then goes on about his business. That should be the end of it. Now he is a slave to what he doesn't want or he has shuts it down.

You REALLY need to LEARN HOW TO READ!! HIRING is not a "hostile" anything!! Neither is MAKING A DEAL!!

Sigggghhhhhh....Idiot. His company will be bought out. He isn't an employee. He is an owner. That means his choice is to either be a slave to Zuck or close down his business. That is not the same as being an employee somewhere then being hired as an employee elsewhere.

Dickweed.

Gross DID NOT have to agree to work for Meta. So what's your point?? He was a CO-FOUNDER and will no longer be EMPLOYED by the company.

Is that a PROBLEM?? Well, no, no it's not seeing how ANYONE can work FOR SOMEONE AT WILL, *******!!

Please, stop trying to make this into something it's NOT. Meta can invest in and buy whatever the **** they want. Once again, it's call FREE ENTERPRISE!! Nothing hostile about someone leaving one company and going to work for another one that is PAYING MORE MONEY!!

I have used numerous AI platforms. Meta is one of the weakest. Zuckerberg realizes this and he is throwing huge numbers around for the best talent. It's a smart move. You are either competitive in this domain or you are going to fail. Apple is courting disaster. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity are the strongest imo.

I never said they couldn't ****. I said that it is a hostile takeover and it is not free enterprise. What I am hoping is that after the takeover, Ilya still tells Zuck to **** off and quits. That means Zuck spent 32 billion on nothing.

Just ONE teeny tiny little problem with your LACK OF FACTS post.

Ilya isn't going to work for Meta. Nor is his COMPANY being bought by Meta. So your entire premise is ****!!

You REALLY need to re-read what you posted and then take a hike from your hate-filled **** claims. It's NOT a hostile takeover. Ilya didn't sell his company. Meta only HIRED PEOPLE THAT WORKED THERE ONCE UP ON A TIME.

You're getting as bad a BV.
