I didn't see this . I don't know how I missed it in my research. The Big Beautiful Bill will give a 365 million dollar subsidy for the indoor tanning industry. Additionally, 153 million dollar toward tax deductions of music gear , such as guitars, instruments, amplifiers, and whatever else related to music and entertainment.

Ok look. I understand that there are a lot of pro-Trumpers here. But even you all have to ask WTF?

DOGE was supposed to prevent that. However, Trump put it in the Big Beautiful Bill. That is one reason why Musk is so pissed off. Valid concern.

Can you site a page number in the final pdf?

Burn Baby Burn..  Rock n Roll does never die..  I can honestly tell CCR I have seen the rain.

You've brought up two distinct topics related to government spending and tax policy: a potential subsidy for the indoor tanning industry and tax deductions related to music gear.
Indoor Tanning Industry Subsidy:
  • It seems there's been discussion surrounding the indoor tanning industry and a potential government "subsidy" related to the repeal of the "tanning tax".
  • This tax, a 10% excise tax on indoor tanning services, was implemented under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). It was intended to help fund the ACA and discourage indoor tanning due to associated health risks.
  • Some politicians have recently pushed for repealing this tax, which critics have labeled as a "tanning bed tax break".
  • Crucially, the provided search results indicate that the figure of $365 million in subsidies for the indoor tanning industry is likely inaccurate. The tanning tax, before its repeal, contributed less than 0.1% of the ACA's annual expenses

This is why I use Chatgpt sparingly. Chat gpt for me said:

Indoor Tanning Industry – $365 million subsidy
What it is:
  • A tax credit expansion and subsidy package for tanning salons and manufacturers of indoor tanning equipment.
  • Originally, indoor tanning services were subject to a 10% excise tax under the Affordable Care Act (as a health risk deterrent).
  • The One Big Beautiful Bill repeals this tax retroactively and provides subsidies to “revitalize” the tanning industry after pandemic-era downturns.
Why Musk and critics object:
  • Indoor tanning is linked to increased cancer risks (especially melanoma).
  • Subsidizing it is seen as wasteful and counterproductive to public health, providing no broader economic or societal return.

I wonder how hard hit the tanning shops were during covid shut downs...?
Thanks to covid  I quit my membership voluntarily..which was too bad because  in the Great White Damp & Cold North it was a nice indulgence during the winter.
I have no clue why Trump has a soft spot for tanning salons though if his tan comes from a bottle...?   Image
This article explains WTF this **** is about...https://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphill ... nning-tax/

It appears that the Obama Admin needed to look for ways to "vice tax" / "luxury tax" those who want to ruin their health  [ Image  ] with indoor tanning....as a way to help pay for Obama Care. So they added a 10% excise tax to the cost of going to a dedicated tanning salon.
The BBB was supposed to be reparations for that injustice.
