Dahmer committed his first murder in Ohio in 1978 and then between 1987 and 1991, he killed another 15 individuals, mostly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His crimes included necrophilia and cannibalism. He was eventually arrested in 1991 after a would-be victim escaped his Milwaukee apartment and led police back to his home, where they discovered human remains. He was sentenced to 15 consecutive life sentences in February 1992, with an additional life sentence added in May for the Ohio murder. Dahmer was killed by a fellow inmate in a Wisconsin prison in 1994
