It can be particularly nasty if the people in the next flat smoke or cook pungent food every single day without opening a window. But again, such is life. Many duplex blocks are built fairly cheaply, hence why they construct two homes to share one vent.
More often than not, you’ll find that you are sharing a vent with someone else.
The Bottom Line
As you now know, you are probably sharing a vent with your next-door neighbor. We strongly suggest that you open your windows every single day to let some real fresh air in. There’s nothing like coming home to a well-aired house after a long day of hustling! Trust us, you will thank us for it.

You would have to be a Slack-Jawed Ignoramus to live in one.
Veghead lives in a dump. He keeps boasting how he lives on 5 acres. If true, he shares 5 acres. He doesn't own 5 acres. Narcissists are so full of ****.MR-7 » 22 Jul 2025, 5:04 pm » wrote: ↑ The short answer is, yes, duplexes do share vents.

Come live in California. People living in $3M-7M houses don’t have BBQs at all…coz they’d rather splurge on restaurantsDeezerShoove » 23 Jul 2025, 7:55 am » wrote: ↑ The wind is a fickle bitch.

Housing everywhere is thru the roof even in small towns that once were halfway reasonable then add high interest on top those inflated prices and good luck palLowIQTrash » 23 Jul 2025, 8:13 am » wrote: ↑ Come live in California. On the bright side, housing in Canada and Texas is collapsing. I should go buy one in both (odd couple)
that explains everything...LowIQTrash » 23 Jul 2025, 8:13 am » wrote: ↑ Come live in California. People living in $3M-7M houses don’t have BBQs at all…coz they’d rather splurge on restaurants

Speaking of wildfires I made a video of it .TwoIfByTea » 23 Jul 2025, 8:47 am » wrote: ↑ He forgot the wildfires heck the whole west for that matter.
I remember still driving truck during covid and just fires everywhere from colorado all the way to west coast.
Even here in the Midwest up in northern Canada is a big wild fire and the smoke blows down here causing smog and air action days even though we are something like a thousand miles away from the actual fires
No quads, 2 structures split into 2 units..ROG62 » 22 Jul 2025, 6:02 pm » wrote: ↑ Correct...generally built as a quad...4 bldgs, 8 units...postage stamp for lawn with a common area...in his instance, a swamp...
good point....living homeless sounds like it is just as good as living in a duplex.
Unless ya got decent neighbors and even then most the old people die off and the kids sell off the house it becomes sec8 rentals and all the blacks start moving in blasting the rap crap music 24/7MR-7 » 23 Jul 2025, 9:10 am » wrote: ↑ good point....living homeless sounds like it is just as good as living in a duplex.
