This doesnt just happen at walmart many times the sale prices at supermarkets need to be entered and at dollar general they gotta look at shelf price because half time its not in the system.

The difference is whether it’s a mistake due to incompetence (understandable) or malice. 

A basic, yet malicious, software protocol could, 3-4% of the time, increase the price at the scanner by 10% for any given item below $20. Most people do not religiously check if the price matches the tag value on the self checkout screen.

Welp being half retired nowadays gotta strecth my money so I know where the specials on stuff and how much it costs before I even get to the grocery store but still always afew price checks for something I always grab the sales ad at entrance too.
