BV thinks 9 mm FMJ should be banned because it was optimized for combat.  I say let's support him.  I mean, how many of you actually carry FMJ for defense?  The cheap round is good for the range.

ANd we still get to carry our more powerful defense rounds that hare hollow points, +P, and polymer.

Thanks BV for allowing us the more power round.  Although he is speaking of an actual firearm he now claims he meant the round.

Here are the links.

Which part is the lie?  Pistol rounds are less than intermediate and 9 mil was inspired for combat.  And according to you anything designed for combat is a high powered fully charged cartridge.

BV's reply:

My logic is that, like the Colt AR-15, it was designed and optimized for combat.

Accordingly, they are inappropriate for civilian use.

Unless you can show that between now and Jun 29th you posted it was the ammo, there is no retelling..  Because it you did I would have said the same thing and started the same thread.

But it not relevant,  my misguided uniformed opponent.  Yo said what you said TODAY.  Again, I thank you for allowing us to keep our ammo that is much more powerful and devastating "optimized for the military"9 mil round.

And since like the goes for the Cot AR 15.

What was you said yesterday..oh...yeah...something about WORDS HAVE MEANING.

I am sure glad you support us getting to use the 9 mil rounds listed in the link below:

https://www.ammunitiontogo.com/lodge/be ... efense/All of these rounds largely fall within the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s guidelines for penetration and expansion when tested in ballistic gelatin.

Not seeing any military FMJ listed.

I must compliment you, BV.

I am glad you are back for more education:

Google AI:

While FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) ammunition is suitable for target practice and training, it's generally not recommended for self-defense due to its limited stopping power and potential for overpenetration. Hollow point rounds are preferred for self-defense as they expand upon impact, creating a larger wound cavity and reducing the risk of overpenetration, according to Ammo To Go

The article AI refers to:

The FMJ is not designed to expand inside of a living target, making it less effective for self-defense. But it is also more economical than an expanding bullet, so it is commonly used by civilians and law enforcement professionals for target practice and training. You should generally use FMJ ammunition when you are shooting inanimate objects. It’s going to hit the target, pass through it or stick inside it, and that’s all. You don’t need costlier self-defense ammunition to practice your aim or otherwise enjoy your weapon’s performance. (Many shooters believe it is worthwhile to train with the same ammunition you would use for self-defense, arguing it is important to become familiar with its performance. They are not necessarily wrong, but if their method is effective it is also more expensive.)

https://www.ammunitiontogo.com/lodge/fmj-vs-jhp/

Apparently that optimized for themilitray/combat round is ****.

To further your education here is some more on the all powerful, optimized for the military 9 MM FMJ.

Google AI

is it illegal to use fmj for self-defense

Using full metal jacket (FMJ) ammunition for self-defense is generally not illegal in most jurisdictions, but it's often discouraged due to its potential for over-penetration and reduced stopping power. While FMJ rounds can be used, they are not the preferred choice for self-defense due to these factors.
Elaboration:

Legality:
There are no laws in most places that prohibit the use of FMJ rounds for self-defense.
Ethical and Practical Considerations:
FMJ bullets, unlike hollow points, tend to pass through a target without expanding, potentially causing over-penetration and endangering bystanders.

Again, thank you sir.

and some more.  Same question for AI as above:

Stopping Power:
The reduced expansion of FMJ rounds may also lead to less effective stopping power, meaning it may take more rounds to neutralize a threat.

Alternatives:
While FMJ rounds are generally legal, they are not recommended for self-defense when other options like hollow-point ammunition are available and legal.

The last few posts should remove the effluvium from your posts.

Again, I think you for supporting the use of much more powerful and devastating hollow points.

And tie the up in a neat little bow:

Google AI question:

can the military use hollow points

The U.S. military generally does not use hollow-point ammunition in conventional warfare due to international agreements and concerns about causing unnecessary suffering. While hollow points are favored by law enforcement and civilians for their stopping power and reduced risk of over-penetration, the Hague Convention of 1899 prohibits their use in international conflicts. However, some special forces and counter-terrorism units may use them in specific situations.

I think this should put to rest the notion you are welcome versed in firearm and firearm related topics.

I apologize for embarrassing you but you bring it on yourself.  You would have been better off lying and saying you had a typo then waiting for over a month to come up with the cockamamie excuse you were talking about the ammo.  Which reminds me.

Sir, here is some food for thought:

I use the ARX polymer round made by Interceptor Arms.  It fires at 1650 fps.

Upon entering soft tissue, the specially designed grooves in the nose harness the soft tissue and constrict, pressurize and eject it at 1.5 to 2 times the directional speed of the bullet. This is the well-known Venturi Effect. As the bullet penetrates, it tumbles in a controlled, predictable fashion that delivers consistent terminal performance that equals or exceeds conventional hollow-point designs without over penetrating.

Now, here is a Winchester FMJ (optimized for the military):

Fires at 1190 FS, is suitable for target practice and plinking and does not expand.

https://www.academy.com/p/winchester-us ... -50-rounds

Now Sir, you have to ask yourself if you were going to be shot which round would you prefer?

I thank you for wishing allow me to keep my defense rounds because they were not optimized for the military.

If you wish to discuss the Colt Ar 15 here is the link:

BV's Sporter Losshttps: viewtopic.php?p=2610828#p2610828

Now, this thread is about how YOU, after a month, decided it was the 9 MIL round that was optimized for military use that you referring to when you claimed the 9 mil was like the colt ar 15.  Your words are quoted.

With that said you are supporting allowing civilians to keep the more powerful and more devastating 9 Mil defense rounds. correct?
