And by now, it should be understood by everyone on this board that every penny of every tariff comes from the pockets of American consumers - not from the target country. Tariffs are inflationary - and that's okay, if they effectively bring jobs home for workers. I'm good with paying extra. But just to prosecute petty grudges? Not so much.

His tariffs on India are at least against a nation with which we have a trade deficit. But they are in response to India buying petro products from Russia. Trump is using tariffs not to protect American jobs, as he had promised; but rather, as a foreign policy tool, at the expense of American consumers. We MIGHT see a few pharma jobs out of these tariffs, but it's highly unlikely. We're almost certainly just going to pay literally double for generic drugs, with no benefit accruing to American workers.

We have a trade surplus with Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. But Trump tariffed all. It had nothing to do with trade - and the promise was that the tariffs would have everything to do with trade.

Trump did a bait and switch. And the die-hard MAGA are not smart enough to see it. I supported tariffs. But adult tariffs.Targeted tariffs. Not tariffs against the moon. Not tariffs against the planet. EACH AND EVERY ONE of these tariffs are a tax on the American consumer. Trump is raising our taxes like it's a Christmas sale. And because tariffs are paid by the importer at landfall, Americans are not merely paying the tariffs. The importer now has an additional cash investment that must make a profit - so Americanb consumers pay well above the tariff rate.

And I was okay with this - if it helped workers. If it was targeted. If it was against nations that were "taking advantage." If it was a TRADE TOOL. But tariffs have turned into a gun we gave a monkey - and there are no more frightening combined words in the english language than monkey and pistol. Monkey Pistol is just nota thing ya wanna hear about.

We have an orangutan spraying an automatic tariff rifle indiscriminately, with a **** eating grin on his mug.

the rise in drugs will  be hard on americans, not other countries. and hard on americans making less than 50,000 a year so trump does not care.

Zion Don said the Democrats overtax Americans, and now we have across the board tariffs.

Zion Don said the Democrats want a CBDC, and now we have stablecoins.

Zion Don said the Democrats want to destroy free speech, and now we have anti-Semitic laws in place.

Zion Don said the Democrats want illegal immigration to suppress wages, and now we have “temporary” (snicker) measures in place so Big Ag  (Tyson, Sysco) can retain their meat packing labor.

Zion Don said Democrats support giving your private data to big tech corporations - we now have Palantir creating a database of all Americans.

You can't make such an absurd statement as, "every penny of every tariff comes from the pockets of American consumers" when that is patently false!  You have no ideal yet how much of the Trump tariffs will be paid by the foreign countries yet, and that won't shake out for at least another year when price competition begins to eat away at their US sales, as well as how much of an impact that the relocation of hundreds of US businesses coming BACK TO THE US will hurt their sales.

Understandably, it takes a bit longer for economic dullards like yourself to withhold your criticism of the policy until it fully takes affect.
Blame your own limited education for your knee-jerk reaction in how a business operates that you fail to understand.
Got that, Chicken Little?

Zeets2 thinks everything is instantaneous.  Like a Big Mac at the drive thru.

He said Biden tripled the price of gas.  I have been paying around 325 a gallon for years with some ups and downs.

He can;t even see his own confirmation bias for the tree that is about to fall on MAGA in Nov 2026. Will it make a sound?

What table? Where's the table? Who headed our trade delegation to Brazil?

The US and Brazil had a trade agreement in place that both nations were satisfied with formany years. TRUMP was satisfied with it throughout his entire first term. The nation abrogating a treaty has a duty to make a **** phone call instead of just screeching about it to the international press.Get **** real.

Call it wantever you want, it's a strategy that has been working, far better than anything the left or any other "right" administration has done. Free trade is a pipe dream when the OTHER side we trade with has barriers in place when we don't. Brazil is far from a developing nation. They have been around since the Portuguese took over as a trade post. Whatever you might claim isn't supported by the facts.
You homos used to callme a comnist for **** on free trade.

NO ONE is going to "make a deal" until THEIR comfort level is disrupted to the point they have to. YOU won't leave that comfy chair of yours UNTIL a spring breaks and pokes you in the ***. Neither do nations that don't have any reason to get up and go negotiate.
That is a ridiculous rationalization for a tantrum. The responsible and adult thing to do is give notice before you abrogate a treaty. Other nations need to know that our word means something.

Let me guess - 5D chess, right?Image

No.

The MEMBER STATES have VAT taxes - not the EU.

The EU does not lay or collect taxes. It gets it's money from member states.

And locally produced goods get the VAT, as well - so by definition it is NOT a tariff.

No one needs to prove the obvious. That's just silly. Can you prove that all income taxes come from income?

Prove it. Prove that income taxes come from income - you can't.

Are you aware of another payer of excise taxes? Name that payer. Is it santy claws?

You're retarded.

Importers must pay the tariffs at landfall, in order to get the goods through customs.

They then pass on both the tariff costs, and a profit on those prepaid costs.
