They then pass on both the tariff costs, and a profit on those prepaid costs.

No one knows how the Trump tariffs will all shake out over the coming year.  A country that loses a large and vital amount of sales when they passed on that tariff to consumers may very well learn that their loss amounts to far more than if they simply absorbed that tariff themselves.  Every country will now be competing with each other to access the huge US market, and strong competition ALWAYS results in lower prices for the consumer!

Prices will be in a flux for the next year because Trump is still negotiating trade deals with dozens of other countries, and that will take time to resolve.  Additionally, other countries will likely follow suit with what China has done in devaluing their currency.  That CUTS THEIR PRICES TO ALLOW THEM TO ABSORB THE TRUMP TARIFF!  What will also take time to sort out is the number of international corporations that have promised to move their production back to the US to avoid that tariff.  But until they do and begin cranking out their products domestically, they may choose to pass on that tariff temporarily.
So YES, there will be some items that cost more, some temporarily, some permanently.  And some foreign companies who HAVE passed on that tariff cost may very well see in the near future that their sales have dropped significantly, and change their course of action to absorb it themselves or devalue THEIR currency.

And there's nothing that makes those facts the equivalent of the derangement syndrome that you dumb liberals are infected with!
