It’s not clear if Massie knew the true origin of the quote when he posted it. However, it was quickly pointed out on social media that the quote was not, as the image suggested, from Voltaire but rather from Kevin Alfred Strom, a notorious neo-Nazi who was convicted on child porn charges in 2008.

Your big ‘gotcha’ is that Massie misattributed a quote? That’s not exactly headline material. People misquote historical figures all the time, such Voltaire, Churchill, Twain, and so on...if you read anything outside of Dr Suess, then you would know that. Try reading books without pictures i. The point Massie was making stands or falls on the idea itself, not on who first said it. Nitpicking attribution doesn’t erase the truth value of a statement; it just shows you’d rather police footnotes than grapple with substance.

Here is a question that you will avoid 400 times, because you are a coward and a moron:
