In July, President Donald Trump ordered Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to redistrict his state in the middle of the decade in order to carve out an additional five Republican-leaning congressional districts, which would bolster the party’s odds of keeping control of the U.S. House of Representatives following the 2026 midterm elections. President Trump’s demands for gerrymandering correlate with his record-low approval rating and the rising unpopularity of his signature legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill. By attempting to bolster his party’s odds of winning midterm elections and keep control of Congress, President Trump is attempting to circumvent the will of voters by eliminating the accountability elections bring, which is in turn a core element of democracy.

Ironically the dems that fled gerrymandered Texas ran straight to a state that the dems have gerrymandered to death and there is nothing left to gerrymanderroadkill » 04 Sep 2025, 8:25 am » wrote: ↑![]()

------------------------------------------Although the state legislature and congressional delegation are led by a Republican majority, Texas's current districting map is divided in a way that gives the GOP an advantage, according to the project. The analysis shows that the redistricting negates a challenging vote.Travis County, for example, includes the city of Austin, which has leaned Democratic, but the county includes five congressional districts around it. By not including Austin in the suburban areas, the congressional district will lean Republican, according to the analysis. The Gerrymander Project's analysis found that the county splits in Texas, which is the number of districts within a single county, are higher than the average split per state, based on its analysis.
