Chicago is 80th in the percapita murder rate.  Concentrations of people leads to concentration of crime.  If Chicago had a red state mentality the numbers could be a lot worse based on the per capita data.  Chicago may actually be doing a good fight against the cockroaches of society from some persepectives.

The rural red hats pray to jesus and tithe, only because Mom tells them get out of the basement and off that stupid game controller. On the side they play with the devil and it creates higher per capita crime rates.

I know.. and all indications are that domestic crimes are increasing the most.. about 3% on Trump taking office.

Kudos that everything else except corruption that doesn't get caught is going down.  Trump is an idiot.. He could be taking credit. Instead he paint's picture it's getting worse under his admin and needs fixins like turnip greens at QuackUp Barrel. Hotels miss the tourism.. America is Cray Cray in the Eyes of the World.  Don't foriegn visit DC, you'll get transported to the vacation spot of ICE's choosing.

We are crime ridden and he did a darn good job in 6 months.  I ain't going to DC to see the National Guard..  If I buy a Taco at the truck I could end up with MS-13 on my knuckles and in El Slaveador by sundown.

Whatever happened to the homeless folks?  Did they become Soylent Green?  Man you can't fart in DC without fear of retribution.  No wonder crime went to zero.. The Threat of the Police State will make anyone behave... Just like the book 1984...

And this is the point of my OP. ^^^ Right there. Should there be a line drawn about what should be considered overreaching if the leaders of a state are not protecting their own?

Keep in mind, when Lincoln wanted slavery to end, that was legally considered overreaching on the states. That is why the states seceded. They saw Lincoln as a tyrant infringing on the states rights. Was Lincoln correct?

Legally, yes. It is an overreach per the law. Morally, no. It is not an overreach any more than it was morally wrong for Lincoln to break the law regarding infringing on the state's rights. The leaders of the states have an obligation to secure and protect the rights of their citizens. Some states have not only failed, but they don't even have any inclination to make an effort. Therefore, I don't see why it should be morally wrong for the federal government to protect the state's citizens if the state fails to do so.

If we are having a serious conversation, then why are you using laughing emojis? Those are usually reserved when we are all insulting each other, like I do frequently to BV. However, if it is a serious conversation, which I thought we were having, then why should I take you seriously with your laughing emoji?

Repeat your post without the laughing and then I will take it more seriously.

Clearly not, since your question appears to be a serious one, but your maturity level about it is that of a child.
