 China is now manufacuring a synthetic opioid class known as nitazenes that has emerged as a terrifying successor to fentanyl, with some variants reported to be 20 to 40 times more potent.

 The U.S. military killed 11 alleged Tren da Aragua members aboard a suspected drug boat originating from Venezuela in the southern Caribbean on Sept. 2.The move, announced by President Donald Trump during a press conference, marks a milestone in increasingly militarized U.S. counterdrug efforts in the region. Trump secretly authorized military force against the drug cartels in early August.
Trump described the strike in a post on Truth Social. "Earlier this morning, on my Orders, U.S. Military Forces conducted a kinetic strike against positively identified Tren de Aragua Narco terrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility," Trump said. "The strike occurred while the terrorists were at sea in International waters transporting illegal narcotics, heading to the United States. The strike resulted in 11 terrorists killed in action. "Later in the day, the White House posted a grainy black and white "unclassified" video that purportedly shows the open boat on the high seas as it's being taken out in a military strike and then engulfed in flames.

I have no sympathy for a drug addict, the quicker they die just means closure for society.

Years ago, nicotine was considered more addictive than heroin. That was the standard line while trying to get people to stop hurting themselves with a legally produced and sold product.

Is nicotine still considered the most addictive thing on Earth?
Seemed like hyperbolic spin during the tobacco wars...

Now we have new Chinese drugs that seem to have the single purpose of "being addictive". Nice.

I wonder if nitazenes are the same as that zombie drug. There is a relatively new drug on the streets that causes the user to be bent over and still, like a zombie. It's supposed to enhance the effects of heroin.

Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Since Washington designated the "Cartel of the Suns" as a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" group in late July and tightened sanctions against Nicolás Maduro, whom it identified as the group's leader, several Latin American countries have taken positions about the escalating concern.

Ecuador was the first country in the region to align with the United States, issuing a decree Aug. 14 in which President Daniel Noboa classified the Cartel of the Suns as a "terrorist organization."

Argentina's Foreign Ministry then announced that President Javier Milei's government had adopted the same position after reviewing "official reports confirming illicit transnational activities, including drug trafficking, smuggling and the illegal export of natural resources, as well as links to other criminal groups in the region."

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña officially declared the cartel an "international terrorist organization" following a request from Paraguay's Congress.

The Dominican Republic was the latest country to give the cartel the same designation, on Tuesday.

Trinidad and Tobago has voiced support for the regional effort against the Cartel of the Suns, but has not issued a formal legal designation. In Guyana, which has had diplomatic tensions with Nicolás Maduro's government over the Essequibo territory, officials expressed concern about the rise of "transnational organized crime and narcoterrorism, which often involves criminal networks such as Venezuela's Cartel of the Suns."

In Peru, Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer expressed support for declaring the Cartel of the Suns a "terrorist organization." Lawmakers in the Peruvian Congress have also introduced motions to do so.

However, Colombian President Gustavo Petro has publicly said the "Cartel of the Suns" does not exist, while the Venezuelan president himself has also denied the group's existence.
